What to do with your payslip each month
Recommended monthly checks and what to do when something looks incorrect
Once you receive your payslip from us, a few simple checks confirm everything is correct.
Monthly checks
- Gross pay matches your agreed salary (or higher if a bonus was agreed)
- Tax code matches the one shown in your HMRC personal tax account
- Net pay matches the transfer you are about to make to your bank
- Year-to-date figures are accumulating consistently month on month
When something looks wrong
Contact us the same day you receive the payslip if anything looks incorrect. We can correct errors in the same month if we know before the pay date. Errors discovered after the pay date can be corrected in the following month's run, but this creates complications if the bank transfer has already been made at the wrong amount.
💡 Good to know: Your payslip also shows your cumulative National Insurance contributions for the year. Keep each payslip stored safely (digitally is fine). You will need them if you ever claim benefits or apply for a mortgage and need proof of employment income.
