Who can see your accounts at Companies House
What information is public and what remains private - explained
Accounts filed at Companies House are public. Anyone, including customers, suppliers, lenders and competitors, can view them free of charge on the Companies House public register.
What is public
Small companies can currently file reduced accounts without the profit and loss account, so your turnover and profit stay private and only the balance sheet and notes are visible. This is what we file for most clients. Reforms will eventually require small companies to file their profit and loss account too; we will tell you before any change affects you.
What stays private
Your full accounts and the Corporation Tax return go only to HMRC. Nothing you send to HMRC appears on the public record.
💡 Good to know: People do check the register: lenders before offering credit, suppliers before giving terms. We prepare your filings with that audience in mind.
