What you can and can’t do in the Xero mobile app
The Xero mobile app (iOS and Android) lets you manage key bookkeeping tasks from your phone without needing to be at a desk.
What you can do in the mobile app
- Photograph receipts immediately and attach them to expense claims
- Raise and send invoices from your phone
- Check your bank balance and outstanding invoices
- Approve bills and invoices waiting for sign-off
- View basic reports including account balances
What requires the desktop version
Bank reconciliation, VAT return review, payroll management, and detailed report customisation all work better on the desktop version. The app is best for on-the-go receipt capture, quick invoice checking, and approvals while away from a desk.
💡 Good to know: The single most useful app habit is photographing receipts the moment they are handed to you. A receipt photographed immediately never gets lost. A receipt put in a pocket or bag frequently does.
