## What is a UTR number, and where can I find mine?

## What is a Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)?

Your **Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR)** is a 10-digit number issued by HMRC. It identifies your company for tax purposes and you must use it when filing Corporation Tax returns and annual accounts.

## When Will I Receive My UTR?

- Your UTR is usually issued **within a few weeks after your company is formed (check HMRC's website for the latest processing times)**
- HMRC automatically sends it by post to your registered office address

## How Do I Access My UTR?

- If you are using our Registered Office Address Service, this will be **scanned and emailed** to you on the same day we receive it
- It will also be stored on your Client Portal under the "[My Mail](https://www.1stformations.co.uk/processed-mail/)" tile and can be viewed by selecting the PDF icon.
- If you are using a personal registered office address, the letter will be sent by post to this address
