Changing a Director’s Details

How to update or fix director details filed with Companies House.

If a director’s details change, you must report the update to Companies House so the public register remains accurate. Most changes can be filed online using the Companies House WebFiling service, using specific forms depending on the type of update.

Change of Personal Details

Most director changes are submitted online via your GOV.UK One account. This includes changes of:

  • Director name
  • Occupation
  • Residential address (kept internal)
  • Service address (shown on the public record)
  • Nationality
  • Country of residence

To file a change:

  • Create your GOV.UK One Login or sign in
  • Enter your company number and authentication code when prompted
  • On the company overview page, scroll to the “People” section
  • Under “Directors and Secretaries,” select Edit next to the relevant officer
  • Make the required changes and save the update

Follow the process for all positions if the officer holds more than one permission

Amending an Incorrect Date of Birth

If an incorrect dob has been provided, you will need to complete a specific filing depending on when the officer was appointed.

Officer appointed during incorporation

If the customer was appointed as a director at the point the company was formed, you will usually need to file:

  • RP CH01 – correction to officer details
  • RP02A – correction of the incorporation record

These forms are used to correct information that was submitted as part of the original incorporation filing.

Officer appointed after incorporation

If the officer was appointed after the company was formed, you will generally need to file:

  • AP01 – appointment of director (with corrected details)
  • RP04 – notification of a correction to an incorrect filing

This ensures the updated information replaces the incorrect record on the Companies House register.

Important notes

  • Date of birth corrections are tightly controlled and may require supporting evidence
  • Companies House will only accept changes where there is a clear error in the original filing
  • Always ensure the corrected information matches official identity documents before submitting
