VAT Registration

VAT is a UK tax added to most goods and services. You may need to register depending on your business, or you can register voluntarily. Here’s what you need to know.

Do I need to register for VAT?

You must register for VAT if any of the following apply:

  • Your VAT taxable turnover will exceed £90,000 in the next 12 months

  • You want to reclaim VAT on your business purchases

  • You want your company to appear more established to customers and suppliers

VAT registration is not automatic - you must apply for it.

How to register - follow the steps for your situation

Existing customers - buying VAT registration separately

If you are already a customer but did not include VAT registration in your formation package:

  1. Log in to your online account

  2. Purchase the VAT Registration Service from the Shop

  3. Our VAT registration specialist will contact you and manage the HMRC application on your behalf

Existing customers - VAT already included in your package

If your company formation package already included VAT registration:

  1. Check your Order Fulfilment email

  2. Find the VAT section and click the link to the VAT questionnaire

  3. Complete and submit the short questionnaire

New customers - you already have a limited company

If you have already formed your company and now want to register for VAT, you can purchase our VAT Registration Service for £69.99 + VAT.

If you have not yet formed your company and want to include VAT registration from the outset:

  1. Select a company formation package that includes VAT registration, such as our All Inclusive or Non-Residents Package

  3. After formation, check your Order Fulfilment email

  4. Locate the VAT registration link and complete the questionnaire
