Additional Self Assessment returns: cost and process
Why you might need an additional Self Assessment return and how to get one
Our Accounting Standard includes one director Self Assessment return and our Accounting Scale plan includes 3 Self Assessment returns for directors or employees. Additional returns for a second director, spouse, or other shareholder are available as an add-on at £145 +VAT each per tax year. The individual must be related to the company that has the plan to be eligible.
Who might need an additional return
- A second director or co-founder who receives dividends or a salary from the company
- A spouse or civil partner who is a shareholder and receives dividends
How to add an additional return
You can request an additional Self Assessment to be completed if you have an Accounting Standard or Accounting Scale plan at any time by contacting us via email or live chat. The fee of £145 +VAT is charged per return per year.
Returns involving complexity
The £145 +VAT fee covers a standard return for a director or shareholder receiving salary and dividends from a UK company. Returns involving capital gains, property income, foreign income, or other complexity will carry an additional fee. We will advise before proceeding.
💡 Good to know: If your spouse or partner is a shareholder receiving dividends, they may also need to file a Self Assessment return each year. Adding them to the plan at £145 +VAT is the most straightforward way to ensure this is handled correctly.
