Notifying us of salary changes
What changes to notify us about and why timing matters
You must notify us of any change to your director's salary before our monthly cut-off (the 15th of the month) to be effective in that month's payroll.
What changes to notify us of
- Increasing or decreasing your monthly salary
- Taking a one-off bonus payment
- A new employee starting (name, salary, start date, bank details)
- An employee leaving
Why timing matters
Payroll submitted late to HMRC incurs an automatic penalty. Our 15th cut-off gives us time to process changes, check them, and submit the Full Payment Submission before the pay date. Changes received after the cut-off cannot be processed until the following month.
💡 Good to know: Tell us about new employees as soon as you have made a job offer, even if the start date is weeks away. Early notice gives us time to set up the payroll, check auto-enrolment eligibility, and ensure the pension scheme is in place before the first pay date.
