Using Syft to track financial performance over time
Explaining Syft's financial performance tracking features
One of Syft's most useful features is comparing your current performance to prior periods. This helps you spot trends, understand seasonality, and track whether the business is growing.
Period-on-period comparisons
You can compare the current month or quarter to the same period in a prior year, to the previous period, or to a budget if one has been set. You can also set budgets directly in Syft.
Using Syft in your quarterly review
On our Accounting Scale plan, your quarterly business performance review uses Syft data as a reference point. Your named accountant will typically share a Syft report or PDF ahead of the call. Understanding how to read your Syft dashboard before the review makes the conversation more productive.
Sharing Syft reports
Syft lets you share reports as PDFs or shareable links, which is useful when you need to provide financial information to a lender, investor, or business partner. These reports are management information drawn from your accounting records. They are not audited or independently verified, and they are prepared for your own use in running and reviewing your business. If you choose to share them with a third party, please be aware that they are provided on that basis.
Important: Where you share Syft reports, or any other financial reports we have prepared, with a third party, you do so at your own discretion and risk. We accept no responsibility or liability to any third party who relies on them, and they should not be treated as a substitute for formal, audited accounts. If a lender or other party needs assurance over your figures, please speak to us first so we can advise on the appropriate form of report.
💡 Good to know: If you have been trading for less than a year, period-on-period comparisons will have limited data to draw on. The value of Syft's trend analysis grows significantly as you accumulate a full 12 months of trading data.
